Executive Sales Strategist
After 25 years running four successful sales teams, founding and leading industry organizations and mentoring many of the top professionals in digital marketing, Scot is uniquely qualified to help sales leaders and their teams through business consulting, dynamic sales workshops and private executive working sessions.
Prior to his work with Upstream Group, Scot led sales at YuMe, CBS Interactive, CBS MarketWatch, and Quote.com. During his tenure at YuMe, the sales team was recognized as the Interactive Advertising Bureau’s Top Digital Sales Team, an honor which was previously given to his team at CBS MarketWatch. The MarketWatch teams were also cited by Forrester for highest revenue-per-salesperson for four consecutive years.
This is Scot’s second time working with Upstream Group. From 2008-2010, he joined Doug Weaver in the creation and management of “Habitat,” the industry’s first multi-company “campus” sales training program for digital sellers. Hundreds of today’s top sellers and managers still look back on their time at Habitat as a key moment in their careers. During his tenures at Upstream, Scot has also provided consulting and team sales training to dozens of clients, including Reuters, Centro, Turn, Yahoo, Cars.com and USA TODAY. Whether as a chief revenue officer, executive advisor, board member, mentor or trainer, Scot has always maintained one ultimate goal: helping sellers to be more productive and successful, both professionally and personally.
Scot has been recognized on many occasions as an innovator and industry pioneer. He is a recipient of the ad:tech Industry Achievement Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the San Francisco Bay Area Interactive Group (SFBIG), an organization he co-founded. In 2002, Scot was a founding board member of The Upstream Seller Forum, the industry’s only peer-to-peer event for digital sales leaders. The Seller Forum continues to this day and Scot remains a board member and active participant. He has also been a key member of the IAB Video Board and is featured in the book “Internet Ad Pioneers: The Stories of the Unsung People Behind the Birth and Growth of the Internet Ad Industry.”
A winemaker, competitive mountain bike racer and former professional skier, Scot makes his home in the coastal mountains near Santa Cruz, California with his wife Sam. They have two grown children, Trevor and Lauren, and share space with vines, dogs, turtles and other wildlife.
